Warning Foregone is a top down shooter in which you shoot the baddies with no mercy. The hitch is the baddies are all bosses and they adapt to your attacks with each new incarnation. Think of the movie, “The Incredibles” and the giant sphere that adapted to each superheroes tactics-this is kinda like that, minus the superheroes and the happy ending. You will die several times playing this game, but that’s part of the fun.
Graphics are 8-bit, the music is frantic, and the bosses become near impossible to beat. The only real complaint in the game is the level ups, and bonuses are too rare and the 4 I managed to obtain didn’t seem to really help all that much, though I did like the seekers, it made short work of the outlying weapons. At level 9 you fight a “mega” boss. It’s tough-you’re attacked before it comes onscreen, and once it does move into range it’s like taking on a “deathblossom” from “the Last Starfighter.” Just impossible to beat it. The challenge is the game though. I liked that element, as frustrating as it was to die over and over again, it was fun to see the new bosses that developed every time I changed my approach.
The achievements were a nice touch, it didn’t really add anything to the overall experience or help you in the actual game play, but it’s always nice to see you’ve accomplished something in all the minutes wasted playing games. FYI-achievements unlock your weapon upgrades, but most of them are pretty tough to grab-good luck!
All in all a nice game and I love the “learning AI.”
