Undead End Hardcore definitely lives up to its name. You must fight your way through hordes of the undead with two weapons, no armor and limited ammo. Each level increases in difficulty and weapons are not always readily available.
Pros: The programmer, dogget76, specifically mentions that he’s trying to make an early 90’s throwback in terms of graphics and music, which I think he accomplishes very well. The music is a little too clean sounding, but not that many would notice that. The gameplay is identical to the 90’s style 16 bit games with death occurring when you think you’re well out of harms way.
I like the idea of this game much more than the actual implementation. I’m always a big fan of the zombie genre but the main and only real negative to this game is the difficulty. The game gets frustrating after about 3 levels because you easily become overwhelmed by the volume and the challenge of the zombies. Fortunately, there is an easy mode you can toggle on in the options menu. Small spoiler-beating the level on easy mode will unlock Officer B.O.A.
There are several types of zombies, here’s a few pointers on zombie disposal:
dogs are easiest to kill with your melee weapon, as are the running zombies unless you are swarmed by them. Fat and armored zombies take two or more hits with the bat to dispatch but don’t do much damage. The chainsaw zombies in heavy armor are best to take on one at a time and just use your bat to keep ‘em down, eventually you’ll kill em, but run as soon as you see a rupture in his tank. The baddies in riot gear are found in the sewers and are also easy enough with your bat. Save your ammo for the spitters, hoodies and uber zombies(think The Hulk with worse skin) Hope that helps.
