We all remember the nasty alien visitor from the Visitor game. The game was quite nasty, so it can be mainly found on more extreme sites. The Visitor: Massacre is less graphical, but contains lots of features we liked about our alien friend like devouring creatures and snatching their powers to advance.
The original game fans might be disappointed to discover that The Visitor: Massacre is a totally different game. While the first visitor was a puzzling point and click adventure, this game is an action/ puzzle game hybrid.
During the game we will take the role of the nasty shape-shifting creature and claim our rights on various camping sites, battling animals and of course delicious humans!
As always our creature can eat and then take form of the creature he ate, for instance eating a bird will give us the ability to fly, eating a fish will grant us swimming abilities, eating a larger creature will make our alien bigger and so on.
The game was built similar to a board game, and most parts are blocked by natural barriers, like fences, rivers and such. The goal of each level is reaching the humans and devour them all.
The thinking element comes to play when we need to decide which creature to eat first and which ability to use next, on our way to next human lunch.
The game controls are quite simple, Arrows to move and space to eat, which brings us to the biggest flaw of the game- The game-play becomes repetitive and you get the feeling that something is missing quite early in the game.
All in all The Visitor: Massacre is a nice game, with decent graphics and music. The idea is original, but it could definitely use more depth, maybe by adding more creatures, abilities or a different battle system.
The Visitor: Massacre receives 3.5 out of 5 Bgames stars
