The third installment of Sushi Cat, oddly titled Sushi Cat 2 is no different then its predecessors. There are the base elements: the game play, the story, and an achievement goal. First off, the story-Sushi Cats lovely plush wife has been dog napped from the mall and left Sushi all alone pining for his sweetness. Then you proceed to the game itself in which you are dropped by a pair of chopsticks into a sushi frenzy of gluttony and indigestion. Your goal is to add enough weight to pass accomplish the story goal. Grab as many golden sushis as you can to unlock new outfits to help entertain you as you obliterate tons of undercooked seafood products.
If you liked the first two episodes, this one will entertain you. If you felt the theme was repetitious then this game will be on the tedious side. Other than the introduction of the golden sushi and the costumes, there’s nothing innovative about Sushi Cat 2-graphics are identical, music, sfx, general game play- there is a bonus sushi that allows you to add pin ball flippers, dragon punches, soy sauce bombs, shopping discounts. I though it added a little spice to the game. The reality is this game is a good time waster as long as your expectations aren’t too high. It was a little disappointing that after collecting all the golden sushi your reward was being able to don a dog costume-it’s anti-climactic. . .an lame.
I will point out the funniest element in the entire game is the cut sequence after the movie level, where all the credits are listed as Kevin Bacon.
All in all for a three-peat, it’s meh.
Sushi Cat 2 receives 3/5 Bgames stars
