I love steampunk as a subculture. I like the blend of old tech with new concepts, the clothing, vehicles everything but this game. Well, that’s not completely fair to the game. Steampunks is a nice take-away puzzle game with a steampunk theme. It’s a clash of genres and themes that makes it a disjointed gaming experience. That’s a more accurate statement of how I feel about Steampunks, it’s not a bad game, just an odd pairing with the feeling that it’s not quite complete. I found level 11 especially interesting-the timing had to spot on to land the hero in the right spot to complete the level. I found myself restarting at least 4 times to get it just right. Let’s get to the run-down:

 Art/Graphics: 1/1

I gave extra for the design, as I said before, there’s no wrong with steampunk design in my eyes.

 Sound/FX: .5/1

Clockwork noises and a synth piano make for a decent playing experince but nothing I would focus on in my gaming experience.

 Plot/Story: .5/1

Puzzle games rarely have any real story line to draw on-but I don’t feel it’s fair to take points when there’s nothing to base it on.

Controls/Interface: .5/1

Meh-point and click, maybe reset on a tough level. You will face tough levels since there are 30 to wade through, count on it.

 Playability/Enjoyment: .5/1

If you like this genre of game then it’s not a bad experience, but there’s little reason to play it over and over.

All in all SteamPunk is a mediocre experience worthy of running through until you are stumped on a level-but I wouldn’t stick around much after that-there are more games out there to try.

3/5 Bgames stars.
