Sheriff Sam is a classic defender/shooter ( Also try Gangsters Bros). Vultures, Aliens and the like swarm over Sam and his trusty steed, Argos, trying to horsenap Argos out from under his watchful eye and his trusty gun. Each level introduces new ‘baddies’ with different approaches and attacks. Your task is to keep the lame Argos from being snatched away. The game look n' feel reminds of some old DOS games we used to play and the main character kinda reminds me of good old Lucky Luke.
The game difficulty starts of pretty average, but as the game advances, especially around wave 8, it becomes quite challenging, and some might say too hard at times.
On the positive side, I’m a fool for pixelated graphics-it takes me to my old Atari 2600 days, sounds match the graphics to further enhance the gaming experience. The story is funny and, while not deep is adequate to engage you. Upgrades to the gun and its ability to tag the aliens help with giving a sense of in game accomplishment.
On the negative, The upgrades don’t seem to add much to the performance of Sam’s sidearm. The game-play is jerky at times and there’s not much in the way of re-playability.
Also some might fell the game stops too many times for "interesting" conversations between Sheriff Sam and his steed, which kinda slows the game-play.
But all in all, I give the game 3/5 Bgames stars for its simple fun and enjoyment. Well done!
