Panzer Troopers is a tough, top down shoot em up game where you are challenged to survive for ten minutes on a harsh, alien infested planet. You fight a swarm of ugly bugs with a plethora of weapons and power-ups that the dead critters drop. The goal is to survive for ten minutes, and earn the highest score you can by stomping bugs in those ten minutes. It’s a fun and fairly addictive game that can be really challenging if you don’t manage your auto turrets. The auto turrets are easily one of the best power ups, but are very scarce and have a limited amount of ammo. So if you want to make it all ten minutes you need to almost ration them out, you can just activate them once they show up. There aren’t any upgrades, even though your “rank” will go up as you play, it’s all about collecting the dropped weapons and power ups to deal with the bugs, as they get tougher and more plentiful. It’s neat that all the weapons do work pretty differently, and have various ranges and damage, which adds some variety to the game. Your pistol has decent rage, but low damage, the assault rifle has longer range and better damage, it’s fairly standard fair with the weapons but they still work and add to the fun of the game. It’s not the deepest shooter around, but it is a smooth, fun challenge that is worth checking out. The graphics are good and the style of the bugs is really cool, if you’re looking for a new Sci-Fi shooter than Panzer Troopers is defiantly for you. While it might not be your last stop for fast paced bug stomping action it’s certainly worth trying out.
