Nephi’s Adventure 2 is a fantastic point and click adventure where you play Nephi, an Israelite struggling to find sacred brass plates. The game is set in a whacky world, fictional ancient Jerusalem, which is populated by some hilariously quirky characters and pretty tricky puzzles that you must solve to get to Ladan’s house and recover the plates. The game’s writing is absolutely hilarious, and each line is voice acted very well. That’s right, this game boasts some competent voice acting for all of the writing and dialogue options. You control Nephi as he moves around the world, as has calm, confidant quips about anything you interact with, or try to interact with. The “rejection” phrases are often funny, but could easily be just a bit more varied. If you try to use a sword on a person Nephi tells you “violence is not the answer” and trying to use it on a passed out drunkard will bring up “I’ve met my drunk slaying quota for the day.” These are some really funny lines, but most of the other invalid interactions bring up an “I can’t use these things together.” I think they missed a couple more fun opportunities for unique denials. Still the voice acting and humor in this game make it worth playing through the first installment before hand. You can jump into the Nephi 2 without the experience, but when you can have a whole other adventure with the burly, smart mouthed Nephi why would you deny yourself the pleasure? This is a great series of adventure games that uses humor and it’s bizarre setting to draw you in, and has some quirky and logical problems to solve as you strut around the world. This game delivers fun, smooth adventuring; I just wish you could move your character with the arrow keys instead of the mouse, because you have to keep switching between a “movement cursor” and an interacting one.
Other that this game is perfect for it’s style, and I give Nephi’s Adventure 2 4.5 Bgames stars out 5
