Mr. Schyzo is a game with simple game play and a ton of upgrades, levels and weapons to unlock. You shoot your way through 2-D levels full of civilians and cops, who you must murder to gain souls and cash. Each level has a new objective, but most of them feel similar because the only thing that really changes is the amount of enemies and the strength and firepower of those enemies. It has its quirks, and the game play can be pretty addictive thanks to this games vicious nature and the pure amount of stuff there is to upgrade and unlock. It doesn’t have any pretenses about the fact you’re just on a pure quest for blood, and it’s kind of fun for a while. You can upgrade your weapons to give you a better chance at critical hits, headshots, and “R.I.P” shots which kill the person in one hit and give you a soul automatically. There’s a slight bit of depth to this game, which saves it from being completely tedious.
In the end it would have been nice to see more variety in Mr. Schyzo’s moves, because you upgrade his armor, his attributes and his Rage meter, but it would be better if he had a dodge move and extra jump power you could buy. Since the levels are so small I would have like some more ways to avoid being shot to death while still keeping up an offensive assault. You do have a box you can hide in, but it’s not that useful since, first of all, you can’t kill anyone while you’re hiding, and secondly you just ware down the “alarm mode” which kicks right back up as soon as you start firing again. All and all this one could use some improvement, but it’s still a fun ride for the psychopath hiding in all of us.
