As you may have guessed, Moby Dick: The Video Game is the equivalent of the book Moby Dick, sort of. You are a little whale, hungry and mad bent on eating every living thing in sight, including the usual whale fare; aliens and birds. As you eat you grow and you must monitor three vital stats or perish. Hunger, you have to eat or you starve. Air, you may not know this little factoid, but all mammals require air to survive, it’s nice when art imitates life isn’t it? Lastly, health-kinda self explanatory, eh?

The game offers nothing but a simple mouse-driven game with no obtainable upgrades (which would have been nice-see effing worms). You eat, you grow. As the game progresses you are awarded for accomplishments like eating 50 birds, sinking 100 ships etc.

Pros: The game is simple enough anyone can play it, there’s nothing overly complicated about the controls or the concept, I would let my kids play this-no graphic violence, language. I enjoyed playing Moby Dick, how many times does one get to say that out loud? The game isn’t revolutionary, but as long as I can enjoy my time invested into it, I can’t complain.

Cons: While the controls are simple, the movement isn’t as fluid or intuitive as I would prefer. there were some points where I would move the control left and there might be a lag in the response, but not enough to drag the game into the negative. Music was frustratingly annoying, but the developers must have predicted this element and graciously gave a ‘sound off’ option in the control panel.

Graphics were mediocre, but the gameplay was pleasant-all in all a decent game for passing the time.
3/5 Bgames stars

PS- think whales aren't powerful enough, try handling a Sydney Shark.
