Meaning Violence is a pretty basic fighter, with a few upgrade options to add a little complexity to the gaming experience. As the hero, you must battle angry villagers, goblins, orcs, giants and the like to your ultimate victory. . .sound familiar? On the surface there’s nothing truly original about this game. It’s not bad, just not different from the plethora of other fighting games out there that are frankly, better (see thing thing or Sonny). Sure they may use guns instead of or with swords but they at least broke the mold. MV is another of the same ole’ same ole’.
Pros: The game in itself is fun and I did enjoy playing it. Graphics were clean and simple. Upgrade system was easy to navigate and the game play itself was smooth. I like the character design the Ice Giants were my favorite. One nice feature is the choice to replay the stage you’re on if you are killed instead of having to replay the entire level.
Cons: It was too repetitive and frankly-too easy. I’ll give you the key to victory at the bottom of this review. Some of the scenes interfered with gameplay with arches blocking your view of the battlefield. (the key overcame that obstacle though) The upgrades didn’t seem to add any real benefit-I liked the fireball attack, the others were okay and upgrading any weapon had little effect on what it took to kill your opponents.
Okay, so here it is the ultimate key to winning the game. . . is to hold down the attack key and hack your foes to bits with an auto spam attack. The first two levels are a boring breeze with this tactic, the third becomes more challenging when you’re fighting what I assume are Ice Giants.
All in all a decent play-but there are better options out there: 3/5 Bgames stars
