Everyone knows Bob The Builder? What about Icy Tower? Well, I'm not sure this is what the developers had in mind, but this cute game definitely looks like a hybrid of those two mega-brands ( you can find another Icy Tower clone here).
The game evolves around Bob, a cute miner that finds himself trapped in a deep mine, trying to survive before the hot magma will devour him.
The game-play is quite simple, we use the arrows to move and jump, and space to activate the weapon ( when equipped).
The game features many elusive traps on your way up, for instance rocks that will collapse if you stay too much time, slippery ice platforms and of course many dangerous traps that will be happy to slay Bob.
The only reference point to this game is Icy Tower, so I'll compare those two to make things more understood. Icy Tower has more impressive jumps and the game looks more dynamic, sometimes too fast. On the other hand Hurry Up Bob! is slower, the jumps are more measured, but the game features more upgrades, such as weapons that can be used to kill your enemies. Also i stumbled upon some pretty awesome bonuses that made the game a lot more easy, like one that helped me fly and break whatever stands in my way, like a Torpedo. Also, let's not forget the time bonus, that freezes everything and makes the climbing a lot more smooth.
I did love the overall retro art, with the cute intro and lovely "digger"-style graphics, on the other hand the soundtrack was kind of monotonous and repetitive ( god bless mute button! ).
BTW, another thing that kept me busy is keeping Bob in idle mode, and see his reactions, some of them, are pretty hilarious, so check them out!
All in all, Hurry Up Bob! Received 3.5 bgames 5, a nice casual game for the bored ones.
