Hidden Dimensions is a turn based, card strategy game where you can battle as many different races, earn different cards and decks, while fighting with spaceships against any of the other races that provide unique bonuses and units. You can even go in and edit decks to your liking as you become more fluent with all of the cards and races. As someone who doesn’t play a lot of card based games, I found this game was fairly easy to get into. The resource system is pretty straight forward, as the units basically break down into attackers and resource builders. You need resources to send out attackers, so it’s a good idea to try and build up your resource making cards first. There is an impressive number of units, and even some upgrade cards that you can pay to use and give extra attack points to your ships. It plays out very well on the game board, and the A.I. keeps up well. It would have been nice to see a campaign of some kind, but especially a multiplayer game where you can pit your decks against other players’ to see how they stack up.
Terrible puns aside this is a fun and simple card game for any beginner in the genre, and sci-fi fans will get a kick out of all the races and the “deep space” setting of the game. It’s a shame there isn’t more than just setting up a single battle to play out, and I found the “assault deck” was a little unbalanced, because the AI can’t always block every ship, if you get the upper hand quick you can just keep laying on the damage. Hidden Dimensions is nice idea that just need a little more work to be a great card battle game.
I give it 3 stars out of 5 Bgames stars
