Harmony-Keeper is a unique little game where you play as a planet-eating monster and use manna to create and upgrade a fleet of ships to protect you on your gluttonous, world-devouring missions. You can level up and earn skill points to give your ships a bonus, but each level you’ll start your fleet over from scratch. You can only have 6 ships at a time, but each one can be leveled up, though it isn’t exactly clear on what leveling them does. (The game just gives you the number of their level and the cost to level them up again.) It’s fun to mix and match the ships, each one has different offensive capabilities and ways of firing, my personal favorite was the wide shooter guardian because it keeps the bosses little ships at bay well. But it would have been nice if your ships could be destroyed, it would add a little extra challenge and let you switch up which kinds you have in if you fill up your slots. As it stands the game is a bit too simple and gets tiring by the final boss (who is a pretty boring battle himself).
It takes a long time to suck down an entire world, so it can be very frustrating if you get killed just before finishing your hearty meal, not to mention it can get tedious just sitting there waiting for a bar to fill. I would have liked this game a lot more had it worked out the minor kinks, because I enjoy the original setting and parts of the game play. It’s a great idea that hasn’t quite yet worked itself into a great game. I wish this game was done better because of its quirkiness and originality.
3 out of 5 Bgames stars
PS- doesn't this game kinda reminds Pacman?
