From Beyond puts the wrath of God at your fingertips by allowing you to destroy Earth with asteroids, UFO’s and black holes. The game play mechanics are fairly simple: click your starting point with the given method of doomsday destruction. Choose the angle of attack and release. Watch the carnage as various regions like the desert, ocean, Peru, and so on are demolished. The more damage dealt, the higher your score elevates, especially if you manage to completely obliterate entire regions. Bonus points galore await those with the pool english to bank your shots and circumnavigate the planet with the Moon.
From Beyond is tall on promise and short on delivery, the game is too short. There should be more weapons at your disposal to obliterate the inhabitants of the Earth. Stars, Planets, anything-you’re God, why limit yourself? It’s not a game answering deep theological posits like: “why are we here?” It’s a game of serial murder and wonton destruction. The music is decent, a little ethereal and wispy-seems appropriate for this kind of game. The scoring upload system was not working at the time of this review; hopefully the programmers can correct the issue so the masses can get on with their competitive measuring. Graphics are mediocre, sound effects are same, and interface is simple enough. Just no real “OOOOH-AAAAHHHH” factor, leaving me feeling like I just ate a pint of sesame chicken-I’m always hungry for more.
In short, From Beyond is too much like others and not nearly as well designed, but this style of game is great for passing a few minutes while waiting on your sister to get out of the bathroom.
All in all, a decent play but could be much better-2.5/5 Bgames stars
