Flock Together is a neat little game where the goal is to rope birds into your flock so you can gain altitude and save your lost your friend who’s been carried to the sky ( The game-play kinda reminds Hanger). The game includes everything from doves to albatrosses. You click a spot of the screen to shoot your rope out and capture the birdies, then you can go to the shop, located in a hot air balloon, and sell your birds to buy more lines of rope, allowing you to collect a larger flock when you come out.
The controls are a bit touchy, and you can sometimes end up clicking your in-game bird menu while trying to catch birds that fly around the left side of the screen. But the minor drawbacks don’t keep this game from being oddly addicting and whimsically amusing. The idea is original and each bird has its own stats, which is interesting. It’s just a shame you can only use your hard earned money to buy ropes and not upgrade specific birds. It would also be fun to be able to name your feathered friends, because then you could keep certain birds around and get an attachment to them. I find touches like that are nice in cute games such as this.
This is a game that can really suck you in, because of the style and the original premise. The game play isn’t exactly spot on but the idea is solid and the birds are cool looking as the carry you around, which makes it fun and urges you to collect more and more. I found myself really into getting bigger and better birds so I could soar higher and higher. Flock Together could use a bit of preening, but I give it a 4 out of 5 Bgames stars.
