Firefly game is unusual. a simple black and white guide puzzler. You must navigate your little firefly through mazes in order to pick up “pills” which make you glow brighter. You’re only allowed to see what you illuminate or what torches and fireworks can light up for you. It seems the challenge is in not rushing in headlong to your demise and eventual restart. Oh, you might want to know that if you touch anything beyond the aforementioned items; pills, torches and fireworks-you will die. As you progress through the game the mazes increase in complexity adding rotating bars, moving blocks and a few other surprises. 20 levels in all and an “arcade mode” that tests your speed and accuracy.
Pros: I simply like this game. It’s fun and challenging, there’s enough of a frustration element that it falls just short of chucking your mouse through the wall. For us colorblind folk it’s not color coded so it’s very easy to see and define the boundaries.
Cons: This is a contradiction to most of my previous reviews-while I like the music on this one: it’s only one song on a loop and it gets tiresome-thanks to the programmers for adding a “sound on/off” feature.
I found levels 14 and 16 especially difficult for different reasons. 14 was a challenge in that it required slowing your pace and setting your timing just so-every time I tried to rush the maze I ran into a wall. 16 I found near impossible because unlike all the previous levels, you HAD to rush or risk being smacked by the rotating bar that covered the entire length of the maze.
All in all a good play no too challenging but not too easy 3.5/5 Bgames stars
