This is one of my favorite genres-point and click mysteries. Your uncle has gone missing and you are the only one capable of finding him. You find yourself in an abandoned church with only a lighter a camera and your wits. It’s a fresh interpretation of the point and click mystery. Though the designers tout the game as scary-I doubt you’ll find any aspect truly frightening-perhaps the answers to some of the puzzles? See for yourself.
Pros:The puzzles were outright hard to complete without either dumb luck or using the walkthrough. I like a challenge and there are no shortages in this game. The graphics were sufficient to set the mood and the music added the right tone for the background.
The most difficult puzzle centered around a word puzzle toward the end of the game-you have to collect special artifacts to access the puzzle, which in itself is a significant challenge, then use your keen wits to decipher the word. There are no free lunches in this game.
Cons: The puzzles seemed more complex and disjointed then necessary-it took crafty thinking and a visit or two to the walkthrough to make sense of their logic. The Nav buttons were too large and made traveling from room to room a hassle at times.
There’s a comment mentioning a secret message, the walkthrough even points to it, but I didn’t find it and from what I’ve read and seen others have come across it but there’s no apparent rhyme or reason for when it hits. That easter egg comes at no charge to you-
Here’s a tip, the first puzzle’s solution is found in the picture stuffed into the alcove by the fireplace: Click on the saint’s head 4x to open the secret passage to the balcony and most of the game’s more elaborate puzzles. Be prepared to do a lot of running up and doen the stairs.
All in all, an entertaining and challenging game, I look forward to the sequels. 4/5
