Feed the King is a goofy game where your goal is to score as many points as possible by staking layers and layers of delicious cake to feed the hungry little king. When you run out lives, time or slices of cake the screen shifts down and the king is launched into the air to munch down the tower of sugary goodness. You have to watch out for obstacles as you stack your cakes, and differfeeent pieces will fit differently on top of each other. The cake moves side to side and you have to push down to slam it onto the last piece. It’s very easy at first but as your tower grows you run into more problems and the pieces start moving faster. It’s one of those simple games that get so addictive because of the ramping difficulty, and the quirky hilarious style. The king’s munching sounds are great, and the different pieces of cake look tasty and unique. There are three different modes, each one limiting your cake dropping in different ways. There’s classic where you have 3 “lives” time mode, and a mode where you have 50 slices to drop.
The game play is very simple; you either drop the cake or control the king’s flight. It’s smooth and well executed though, and the addictive quality is really magnified by the humor. It’s a lot of fun to see all the different kinds of cake pieces; especially the garbage cake and the muffin, which will work against you as you try, keep your growing tower cake in line. There’s a shop in the game that lets you buy a few power ups that makes each one of the modes a bit easier, and earning gold comes slowly so when you finally get one it feels like a good accomplishment.
