Deadly Venom is an interesting take on the point and click style adventure. You play as a foxy secret agent infiltrating a compound and you have to use stealth take downs, throwing knives and your guns to neutralize the guards patrolling the area. When you try to do a take down you have to tap out button combos the screen shows you, and the first person assassinations look cool and smooth. You can also aim your pistol or knives, if you have them, and need to take down multiple targets. Besides that it is your standard point and click game, you’ll have to explore the compound, collect key cards and items to help you get through and progress in the game. There are even some extra treasures to unlock, like new costumes that will encourage you to keep playing. Or you can just use the cheats to check out all the foxy secret agent ware available.
It’s a fun point and click stealth game, but that’s about it. It would have been nice to see some different weapons, there’s just a knife and a gun, and a little more challenge. Most of the takedowns just involve waiting for the guards to turn around so you crack their necks with surprising ease. The button combos give you a lot of time to succeed. If you’re playing this game it’s basically just for the super-cool and the sleek takedowns. It doesn’t offer a unique challenge or a really gripping storyline. I wish there was more to the combat, because besides the takedowns and knife throwing this is just your average point and click adventure. It’s fun for a little while, but after a certain point you realize there’s only really three ways to kill people.
It could have been a lot better with some more thought put into it, but I give Deadly Venom a 3 out of 5.
