Dark Base Defense (Reloaded) is a neat defense game where your single tower is fixed in one place and you must survive wave after wave of monsters while earning points to upgrade you weapons and defenses, stop me if you’ve heard this one before. But Dark baseisn’t the same old tower game, the way you upgrade your guns and use them during battle is actually very interesting and offers a lot of options for customization.
Instead of one point for one upgrade, many of the stats require a few extra points before the upgrade actually takes effect. For example you have to spend three points to upgrade your Gatling gun’s damage. And when you are out on the battlefield you have two slots and you can pick a different gun for each one. So you can use your laser cannon and your flamethrower at the same time, which offers a unique way to handle strategy and offense.
The variety of enemies will challenge you, as they all have different hit points and attack range and as you level up they really start to pour in.
The game-play is smooth and well made, there’s not many glitches or slowdowns when baddies start to crowd the map. The different guns and the interesting upgrade system make this game fun and worth trying, because it stands out from other similar titles. The dual wield system works well, and helps you deal with the huge swarms of varied creatures. You get more and more skill points as you gain levels, and that helps you to keep up with the bad guys; but the game still manages to keep a good difficulty level and you won’t find yourself getting bored with how easy it is to destroy each wave.
