Crossroads: 2D is an 8 bit rpg-like retro adventure. There are no in-game instructions, just a signpost with directions to 4 destinations and the knowledge that the spacebar and the ‘z’ button are your only tools in the game.

Crossroads: 2d is actually a nice game if not a bit repetitive. The graphics, as previously mentioned are 8-bit pixels and in black and white, but I don’t think color would have really added that much to the game. The music sounds like it was mixed on a come PC with a casio keyboard, and on a short loop, so mute it to save your sanity. It’s a short game but none too complicated, more patience then ingenuity needed here.

The repetitive nature of the game comes from finding out what the 4 different endings look like, the endings are: Knight, Troll, Count and Old Man.

SPOILER!!
The Knight ending comes from completing the counts quest and killing the bridge troll.
The Troll ending comes from being killed by the Troll king.
The Count ending is only bestowed upon the death of the Count himself.
The Old Man ending comes after trying to kill the old man to the west.

If you kill the Bridge Troll, you cannot talk to the Troll king without dying.
All quests begin with going to the South and picking up the axe from the well in town. Then heading West to do a little business with the Old Man. After that, your path is your own, but it doesn’t take too long to figure it all out. Some quests are dependent on specifics-make sure you complete the tasks to find all 4 endings.

All in all a decent short play worth the time-3.5/5 Bames stars
