Caldera Legends is a medieval fantasy themed strategy defense game along the lines of Plants Vs. Zombies. The basic goal is to defend your ‘home’ against attackers; or in this case, defenders. Each kill delivers a set amount of gold with which you can purchase more advanced units and attacks as you conquer several regions. The ultimate goal is the subjugation of the entire region for your control. If that isn’t quite enough then you can always try your hand at survival mode and see how long you last against the amassed hordes bent on your demise.

At face value, this game is okay-not great, not terrible. The biggest drawback overall is not being able to sell or move set units. If you make a mistake in placement it will be your undoing in later levels. Graphics are decent and the music seems to be innocuous enough to avoid distraction. Each level gives a difficulty percentage which I found to be somewhat inaccurate. Most levels were easily beat with the strategy listed below. The latter levels were conquered with more effort on my part. Most of the upgrades were unnecessary and useless. 
I found that using the Fire Mage, Ice Mage, fountain, meteor, and altar of illusions to be the best set until the last 3 or 4 levels. Place a fountain in the back row and wait for the first baddie to show up, collecting at least one batch of mana. As soon as you see the soldier on screen place your first fire mage in the second column, and alternate accordingly. Once you have the first two columns filled with mana and fire mages-fill the third column with ice mages and use the illusion and meteor as needed. Every levels deployment is set, so finding the pattern will be some help if you want to play it through that often. The most difficult adversary is the griffon. The altar is the fastest way to dispatch it, or using 2 mages and a booster can accomplish the task as well-but is much more costly. 
All in all a decent play once through-I wouldn’t go through it twice though.
