Bridge Tactics puts a unique spin on the “destruction” style game. The goal is to destroy a bridge, but you also have to wait for an army platoon or supply convoy to be on the bridge so that they will be destroyed with it. This adds a nice sense of urgency and timing to the game. You have to wait for the group of trucks and soldiers to be half way across, so that any units that don’t get blown or (or can’t be) will tumble into the river below. It’s a lot of fun to come up with the ways to blow out the bridge, and the different assortments of units have different strengths and speeds. Some bridges are tougher than others, there’s a good assortment to the maps but there’s only ten of them total, so you end up getting stuck on certain ones for a while, after you just breeze through a couple at time.
The lacking amount of levels isn’t too terrible, because about halfway through once you’ve seen every unit it starts to feel slightly repetitive. It would have been nice to see upgradeable TNT so you could get better or more precise blasts, it also would have added a lot more variety to the game. But it is what is, a simple destruction game, and there’s defiantly fun to be had and potential for a sequel here. I liked this game a lot, more the first few levels but I must admit the novelty does start to wear, it’s a good starting point, so I give Bridge Tactics a 3.5 Bgames stars out of 5 stars
If you got tired of smashing bridges, why don't you crush some castles instead?
