Brain Waves is part puzzle game, part IQ test to form one addictive little mind game that will have you coming back over and over to improve your scores. There are a few different events to compete in that measure your perception, multi tasking ability and your sense of timing. Each level grade you out of one hundred percent and they all combine for a final grade that evaluates how well you did on each test. Whether these little games actually measure something as broad and important as “perception” is up for debate, but the simple games all put together do make for an addictive mix. Each puzzle offers a unique challenge, and in the normal play mode you will be given them one after another, but you can also take them on one at time which will allow you to boost your scores and try to get them all up to a perfect score. Again, there’s no guarantee that doing this will actually make you more perceptive, and I’m not sure employers will be looking at this test anytime soon to hire new workers. But for an “educational” game this one is defiantly a ton of fun.
The three different modes are varied enough that playing them one after another doesn’t get old. You may find yourself getting tired of the simple formula of one game, especially if you keep trying the same one over and over to perfect your score, but repetition really isn’t the point of this game. The fun comes from the first evaluation, where you want to how good you are without a heap of practice on this one specific little game. Brain Waves won’t change the way you think, but it might get you thinking about picking up some old math books or trying some real exercises to increase your perception.
