In this physics Puzzler you must remove the “bad guys” from each level with the allotted explosives and not eliminate the “good guys” from the levels. At first glimpse there is nothing special about this game-just another puzzler along the vein of Wake the Box and civiballs. But I liked this game as well as those-which in itself is unusual. Once you’ve played one of these it seems there are a million copy cats out there, Blow Things Up! is
different only because there is a huge amount of satisfaction in blowing things up-I can’t quite explain the visceral sensation of setting and detonating bombs!
Pros: It’s just plain fun to blow stuff up! The challenge on most levels seems adequate if not slightly on the easy side with the exception of the levels listed below. The physics seem close enough to not raise any “wth?” flags.
Cons: Music-none, sound effects of the creeps falling off screen is annoying, and the graphics are mediocre at best.
I found that on levels where there was no obvious solution the angle of attack had little to do with solving the puzzle and relied more on luck. Simply replaying a level over and over until you found the sweet spot or just happened upon hitting the right position. At times, that was more frustrating than enjoyable-but at least you advance through the level just the same, right?
Levels I found particularly tough were as follows:
Level 28-I like a pinball game as much as the next person-but this was tough to solve at first. The walkthrough is useful if you have the patience to wait through every level to get to the one you want.
Level 22 seemed to take too many tries for as simple as it really was.
Level 32 was just impossible for me-there doesn’t seem to be any good angle of attack to expel the creep. Post your solution below.
