Awoken is another Myst-like escape puzzler. You must find the proper elements to escape the situation you’re sitting in. In this case a creepy asylum looking building. The goal isn’t clearly defined so here’s your first clue into solving this game: find 7 gems to place in the doorway above your starting location. 22 locations concealing tools and items necessary for your escape. When you start the game your dumped into an entryway that holds a map-grab it and place it in the first slot of your inventory bar. When you click on it you’ll see a grid with your current location marked clearly. The trick to this game is finding the tools to reveal the keys to the puzzle solutions. SO. . .instead of giving a step by step walk through, I though I would help you find the tools you need find those elusive keys.
First you need the hammer and screwdriver. If you’re looking at the map, the hammer will be found in column 4 row 6 in the lower left hand corner of the scene. Pick it up and head back to where you started and proceed to the right. Use the hammer to loosen the boards and pick up the green key. Go to column 4 row 7 find the green door and proceed to the third room, use your hammer on the cabinet to recover the red key. Continue right unlock the door with code 7468, pick up the knife, get the screwdriver and you should have all the tools you need to pick all the rest of the keys and gems.
A few final thoughts on the game: My little guide isn’t all inclusive-there were a couple of steps omitted toward the end-The start gives you more than enough help to get you running to collect the rest-and the simple fact that you know what you need to recover will save you some dumb stares. Look for little glowing orbs hidden in the scenery; they have an affect on your score. This game is kinda obvious in that the mouse pointer will turn into a hand when you’ve found something of note-there are a few red herrings though, don’t spend too much time on the same item. Lastly, the game isn’t linear you don’t necessarily have to have A before you get to B, remember that.
All in all a decent play-graphics and music need work, but fun none-the-less.
Awoken receives 3.5/5 Bgames stars
