Adapt or Die puts you in charge of a robotic bee hive battling for survival against the fearsome red hive. The more sections you take over, the more you can reproduce and evolve your drones. Develop your hive with power pads that target your evolution to various traits like armor, range, sight and agility. Every level features a new map to conquer and every three levels pit you against one or multiple boss drones ( If you're into real-time strategic games you can try games you can try Hex Empire, a very recommended real-time war game).
Pros: AoD is a unique strategy game, there have been a few bee themed games lately, but this one seems to be the best so far. I like the concept, graphics and music are decent. Challenge for each level is high but not impossible. I found it difficult to beat in one sitting.
Cons: The only complaint I have are the controls are awkward-it seems counter-intuitive to click that often for simple commands. It was very irritating in the later levels when it was necessary to split up the drones into several groups. The scrolling speed lagged a bit as well, but didn’t create any particular difficulties in game play.
I didn’t particularly care for the boss levels, the only real change from other level’s enemies was the size. The last three levels however, were quite a bit of fun to tackle. I wouldn’t say the AI got better as the game progressed, but it certainly multiplied the enemies numbers faster than I could.
All in all a great strategic play- Adapt or Die receives a nice score of 4/5 Bgames stars
